If I was creating a toothpaste advert I would use these media mythologies.

  • White and blue colours for freshness and coolness
  • Set in Antarctica with snow and ice
  • Recommended by dentists



Media Mythologies- commonly held beliefs, and they are used frequently to create meaning in advertising.

Anchoring- caption for something that has no clear meaning.


  • Red and gold colours are recognised globally for being related to mcdonalds
  • The golden party horns are in the chip packet to suggest they are celebrating having the best chips in the world.
  • The anchor states they are 'celebrating 60 golden years' to suggest they have always been the best.
